Withdrawal, Retraction, and/or Corrections

Authors are discouraged from withdrawing manuscripts after they have entered the publication process, as An-Nisa’ Journal of Gender Studies has allocated time and resources for peer review, editing, and manuscript layout. If a withdrawal is still requested, authors will be required to pay a processing compensation fee of USD 65, payable after an official withdrawal request is submitted via the same correspondence email to the journal’s editor.

The editors of An-Nisa’ Journal of Gender Studies will consider retracting a publication if:

  1. 1. There is strong evidence that the research findings are unreliable, either due to serious errors (such as miscalculations or experimental mistakes) or as a result of data fabrication or falsification, including image manipulation.
  2. 2. The article is proven to contain plagiarism.
  3. 3. The content of the article has been previously published elsewhere without proper attribution to the original source, without disclosure to the editor, without permission for republication, or without adequate justification (redundant publication).
  4. 4. The article uses data or materials without proper authorization.
  5. 5. There is a violation of copyright or other serious legal issues, such as defamation or breaches of privacy.
  6. 6. The article reports research that does not comply with ethical research standards.
  7. 7. The article was published through an invalid, manipulated, or improper peer-review process.
  8. 8. The author(s) failed to disclose significant conflicts of interest that could potentially influence the evaluation, interpretation, or recommendations of the editors and reviewers.

The retraction notice will:

  1. 1. Be clearly linked to the retracted article, particularly across all available online versions.
  2. 2. Clearly identify the retracted article, including its title and author(s), either in the retraction notice heading or through explicit citation.
  3. 3. Be explicitly labeled as a retraction and clearly distinguished from other forms of corrections or editorial statements.
  4. 4. Be published promptly to minimize potential negative impacts.
  5. 5. Be freely accessible to all readers, without subscription or access restrictions.
  6. 6. Clearly state the party responsible for initiating the retraction.
  7. 7. Clearly explain the reason(s) for the retraction.
  8. 8. Be written in an objective and factual manner, avoiding inflammatory or emotive language.

Retraction is generally not considered appropriate when:

  1. 1. There is a dispute regarding authorship; however, there is no indication that calls into question the validity or reliability of the research findings.
  2. 2. The main findings of the study remain valid, and any errors or issues identified can be adequately addressed through the issuance of a correction.
  3. 3. The editor does not yet have sufficient and conclusive evidence to support a retraction decision or is still awaiting additional information, including the outcome of an institutional investigation.
  4. 4. Conflicts of interest were disclosed by the author(s) after publication; however, based on the editor’s assessment, these do not significantly affect the interpretation, recommendations, or conclusions of the study.

The editors of An-Nisa’ Journal of Gender Studies will consider issuing an expression of concern if:

  1. 1. The editor receives preliminary indications or evidence that is not yet conclusive regarding alleged breaches of research or publication ethics by the author(s).
  2. 2. There are findings suggesting that the research results may be unreliable; however, the author’s affiliated institution does not conduct an adequate investigation.
  3. 3. The editor considers that the investigation into the alleged publication-related misconduct has not been, or will not be, conducted in an objective, independent, and conclusive manner.
  4. 4. An investigation is currently ongoing, while a final decision is not expected to be available within a reasonable timeframe.

The editors of An-Nisa’ Journal of Gender Studies will consider issuing a correction if:

  1. 1. A small part of an otherwise reliable publication is found to be misleading, particularly as a result of an unintentional error.
  2. 2. The list of authors or contributors is inaccurate (for example, a deserving author has been omitted, or an individual who does not meet the authorship criteria has been included).

All procedures for withdrawal, retraction, and correction adhere to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)
